Episode 23 - Edrees Siddiqi | The South Jersey Group
This episode is unlike all previous episodes Brian has had to date - Brian has a drink with Edrees Siddiqi of The South Jersey Group. What makes Edrees Siddiqi's story so unique? Well for starters, he fled Kabul, Afghanistan with his mother when he was 3 years old to Pakistan, then into India and then the United States.
Fast forward 19 years and Edrees voluntarily goes back to Afghanistan as a Pashto interpreter for the Department of Defense Marine Corps.
When he returned to the United States 13 months later, and 77 pounds lighter, he used the money he earned to start a demolition business that would take him and his partner to opening South Jersey Recycling.
Edrees’ story is unlike most, but like many entrepreneurs on Brian’s show - he didn’t want to work for anyone else and as a first child to immigrant parents, working at Costco wasn’t going to cut it.
